DUSHANBE, September 20, 2012, Asia-Plus  — Russia air carrier, Orenair, has launched a new air route from the Russian Federation to Tajikistan – from St. Petersburg to the Tajik city of Kulob.

Orenair’s press reports this once-weekly service will be operated on Mondays.  Boeing 737-800 will be used to operate this flight.

Orenair now operates regular flights from the Russian city of Orenburg to Dushanbe and Khujand, the capital of Sughd province.

Orenburg Airlines (Orenair) is an airline based in Orenburg, Russia.  It operates domestic passenger services and inclusive tour charters, as well as aerial work and special flights.  Its main base is Orenburg Tsentralny Airport, with hubs at Domodedovo and Orsk. 

The airline was formed from the Aeroflot Orenburg Division, which was established in 1932. It started operations in 1992 under its present name. It was the first Russian domestic airline to introduce the hub system of connecting flights in Orenburg, providing a full service for transfer passengers, and the first Russian domestic airline to introduce through air fares. In 2010, Orenair was acquired by Aeroflot and is likely to engage in a fleet modernization process as a result of the merger.
