European Week starts today in Tajikistan”s capital. It starts with performance by the soloists from the S.Ayni State Academic Opera and Ballet Theater who will perform European composers” works .

The concert will take place tonight at Talabsho Sattorov Tajik National Conservatory. The event is organized by Bactria Cultural Center and EU Mission in Tajikistan. Tomorrow, October 31, Bactria Cultural Center  will host lectures dedicated to “The influence of European cinema to Tajik cinema”.

Additionally, festival of European movies will start in the evening with French “Untouchable” movie, Public Program Coordinator Amal Khanum Gajieva told the AP. She said that the youth debate tournament, lecture about French writers and demonstration of pictures by German, Finnish and English producers will be held from 1st to 4th of November. The same program is scheduled for November 3 in Vakhdat.

Organizers believe that presentation of various European cultures and traditions to Tajik people help create cultural bridges between the people. A.Gajieva added that the European Week is an important instrument for raising public awareness about current links between European Union and Republic of Tajikistan, which explains EU”s role in the republic and the process of EU”s integration to Tajik society.
