KULOB, November 5, 2012, Asia-Plus  — Russian air carrier, OJSC Siberia Airlines, has launched a new air route – from the Russian city of Novosibirsk to the city of Kulob in Khatlon province.

Ali Komilov, Director of Kulob International Airport, says the first flight on this route was operated on November 3.

“Besides, Orenburg Airlines has resumed flights on the route Kulob-St. Petersburg,” Komilov said, noting that three air carriers now operate fourteen flights from Kulob to Moscow per week.

OJSC Siberia Airlines also operates flights from Kulob to the Russian city of Yekaterinburg, Komilov added.

OJSC Siberia Airlines operating as S7 Airlines, is an airline headquartered in Novosibirsk Oblast, Russia, with offices in Moscow.  S7 Airlines has been Russia”s fastest-growing airline and recently passed Aeroflot as Russia”s largest domestic airline.

S7 has operated scheduled passenger flights to destinations in Russia, as well as international services to Armenia, Austria, Azerbaijan, Bulgaria, China, Czech Republic, Egypt, Georgia, Germany, Hong Kong, Ireland, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Moldova, Montenegro, Korea (South), Spain, Tajikistan, Thailand, Turkey, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan, Ukraine and the United Arab Emirates. Its main bases and hubs have included Moscow Domodedovo International Airport (DME) and Novosibirsk Tolmachevo Airport (OVB), with a further hub at Irkutsk Airport (IKT), Irkutsk.  After 2004, it became the largest domestic route airline network in Russia.
