Dushanbe. November 22. “Asia-Plus” – The amendments to the Law “On presidential election” proposed by the two deputies of the Islamic Renaissance party of Tajikistan, Moukhiddin Kabiri and Sayedumar Husaini, are currently being studied by the committees and commissions of the Lower Chamber of Tajikistan’s Parliament and were submitted for legal testing, deputy head of the parliamentary committee for state construction and local self-governance Galiya Rabieva told AP.

She said she was surprised by what she called a “useless sensation” which was created by some media and political parties regarding the proposed amendments to the Constitutional Law.

“I believe that the amendments seek to protect the interests of small political parties,” Rabieva stressed, adding that both authors and supporters of the amendments pay too much attention to technical aspects of the issue.

“At the same time, they ignore the fact that if approved, these amendments will create multiple problems for the process of presidential election. For instance, it is not clear whether all political parties of Tajikistan are able to find adequate and skilled representatives in all polling stations of the country, because we have at least 4000 of them,” she said.

Rabieva believes it is not easy to be a member of a polling station without extra payment. “I hope both commissions and committees of the lower chamber will pay attention to all aspects of the proposed amendments,” she said.

In his interview to AP leader of the Communist party of Tajikistan, deputy of the lower chamber of the country’s parliament, Shodi Shabdolov, said that the communists will probably support the proposed amendments.
