, a monthly report for November 2012, says, referring to Barqi Tojik (the state-owned utility responsible for generation, transmission, and distribution of electricity in Tajikistan).
Electricity production in October declined by 16.7% (45.0 million kWh) compared to September 2012. Electricity production in October 2012 was 61 million kWh more than in October 2011. From May to October this year the Norak hydroelectric power plant (HPP) was providing more electricity than for the same periods in 2010 or 2011.
Meanwhile, total electricity consumption in October was 1,116 million kWh. Last month, electricity consumption was 24 million kWh more than in October 2011 (1,092 million kWh).
Average daily consumption of electricity by major regions of Tajikistan and by the Tajik Aluminum Company (TALCO), the largest commercial energy consumer, in October amounted to 1.116 billion kWh, or 24 million kWh more than in October 2011.
In October, Tajikistan reportedly supplied 48.9 million kWh of electricity to Afghanistan.
Seasonal rationing of electricity supply began in the country in early October 2012.
The report notes that the water level in Norak HPP in late October was 908.58 meters above sea level, 1.85 m higher than compared to September, 2012 and 51.58 m above the “dead level” (857 m).
At the end of October, the water inflow into the Norak HPP was 330 m3/sec, 39 m3/sec higher than the 2004-2011 average of 291 m3/sec.
