DUSHANBE, December 13, 2012, Asia-Plus – Tajikistan-Turkmenistan political consultations were held in the Turkmen capital Ashgabat on December 12.

Tajikistan was represented by the First Deputy Foreign Minister, Mahmoudjon Sobirov, and the official Ashgabat was represented by the First Deputy Foreign Minister Vepa Khajiyev.

According to the Tajik MFA information department, the sides discussed state and prospected of further expansion of bilateral cooperation between Tajikistan and Turkmenistan and exchanged views on a number of international and regional issues being of mutual interest.

They also pointed to the necessity of efficiently using potential of the Tajik-Turkmen joint commission for trade and economic cooperation, the source said.

The consultations provide a major opportunity to discuss and share perspectives and approaches on major regional political issues and to deepen bilateral cooperation.
