DUSHANBE, December 22, 2012 Asia-Plus  — The Tajik authorities have reportedly decided to install video surveillance system across Dushanbe.

Financial and technical aspects of the “Safe City” Project were a major topic a meeting of Tajik President Emomali Rahmon with Ms. Amy Lin, Vice-President of Huawei that took place here on December 21, the Tajik president’s official website said.

The project reportedly provides for installation of cameras across the Tajik capital city for round-the-clock monitoring of movement at all important locations such as crossroads, streets and squares.

A total cost of the project is 22 million U.S. dollars and the major part of the finds is a preferential loan provided by China within the framework of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO).

The project is planned to be implemented in seven months with a five-year warranty period, the website said.

Experts from Huawei will train Tajik specialists in operating that electronic system.  If the project is implemented in Dushanbe successfully, it will be implemented in other cities and districts of the country as well.
