DUSHANBE, February 8, Asia-Plus  — Some 20 issues have been tabled to the agenda of the 12th meeting of the Tajik-Russian commission for trade and economic cooperation that will take place here from February 11-13, a well-informed source in the Tajik government said.

Bilateral cooperation between the two countries in energy and industry sectors as well as the delivery of Russian oil products to Tajikistan and the migration cooperation issues are reportedly among major topics of the meeting.

The meeting participants will also consider economic and investment cooperation between Tajikistan and the Russian Federation as well as issues related to open joint-stock company (OJSC) Sangtudinskaya GES-1 and Barqi Tojik (Tajik electricity supplier)’s debts.

The meeting that will be co-chaired by Tajik Prime Minister Oqil Oqilov and Russian First Vice-Premier Igor Shuvalov is also expected to consider cooperation between Tajikistan and Russia in re-cultivating areas affected by uranium mining and recycling uranium waste.

The meeting will also discuss bilateral cooperation between the countries in sectors like agriculture, transportation, education, science, health care, culture, etc.

In 2012, a two-way trade between Tajikistan and the Russian Federation amounted to some one billion U.S. dollars.
