Tajik, Austrian presidents discuss cooperation issues

DUSHANBE, March 13, 2013, Asia-Plus  — Tajik President Emomali Rahmon met here with Austrian President Heinz Fischer Wednesday (March 13) morning.

According to the Tajik president’s official website, in the course of the talks, Emomali Rahmon noted that Austria was one of significant and reliable partners of Tajikistan in Europe.  “We are interested in further expansion of cooperation with Austria in economic and social sectors,” Rahmon said.

Tajik president added that Tajikistan and Austria shared similar position on many international issues that allowed the countries to expand bilateral cooperation.

For his part, President Fischer stressed that Tajikistan’s joining the World Trade Organization (WTO) would pave the way for further expansion of bilateral cooperation between the two countries in various fields.

The two also considered issues related to cooperation on attraction of investments for enhancement of Tajikistan’s energy, industrial, agrarian and transportation sectors, the Tajik president’s website side.
