An official source at the PDP Central Committee says a joint conference of the party primary organizations in Vose, Temourmalik and Khovaling districts has approved candidacy of Ibodullo Nematov to run in parliamentary by-election in the Vose constituency.

Ibodullo Nematov is head of the Jamoat named after Michurin in the Vose district.

We will recall that by president’s decree member of the Agrarian Party of Tajikistan (APT) Rustam Latipov, who was representing the Vose district in the parliament, was appointed acting chairperson of the Vose district, Khatlon province.  Under the country’s legislation, Rustam Latipov resigned his seat in the Majlisi Namoyandagon (Tajikistan’s lower chamber of parliament).

Founded in 1993, the People’s Democratic Party is the largest political party in Tajikistan, boasting 200,000 registered members. President Emomali Rahmon is chairman of the party. The PDP now controls some 65 percent of the seats in parliament (45 of 63 seats).
