DUSHANBE, April 22, 2013, Asia-Plus  — “Today, I intends to apply to the board of the Majlisi Namoyandagon (Tajikistan’s lower chamber of parliament) with solicitation to invite the Minister of Interior Ramazon Rahimov to one of the nearest sittings of the Majlisi Namoyandagon to give an official report on the crime situation in the country,” MP Muhiddin Kabiri, who is also leader of the Islamic Revival Party, told Asia-Plus in an interview.

According to him, he wants the interior ministry to brief the Majlisi Namoyandagon on what is doing to find missing persons and to stop rough treatment by the law enforcement officers of citizens and the beating of known persons by unknown assailants.

On the recent attack on the IRP deputy leader Mahmadali Hayit, Mr. Kabiri said he would give a special press conference on that subject today.  The press conference will take place at IRP’s headquarters in Dushanbe.

We will recall that the IRP deputy head Mahmadali Hayit was kicked and beaten by several unidentified attackers outside his home on the evening of April 19.
