DUSHANBE, April 30, Asia-Plus – A roundtable formally titled “The Role of Mosques in Tajik Society” is being held in Dushanbe today.

Organized by the Media Holding Asia-Plus under support of the OSCE Office in Tajikistan, the event aims to discuss the role of the mosque in Tajik society, assess its role in preventing the growth of radicalism and extremism in society.

The roundtable has brought together representatives of the government bodies, public associations and international organizations active in Tajikistan as well as known Tajik researchers and experts on Islam.

The roundtable participants are also considering issues related to assistance civil society and international organizations could provide to imam-khatibs in preventing the growth of radicalism and extremism in society.
