DUSHANBE, May 27, 2013, Asia-Plus – An earthquake measuring 4.0 on a 12-poitn scale jolted Dushanbe on May 26, at 11:08 am, Zuhro Nillobekova, a specialist with Tajikistan’s Geophysics Service, told Asia-Plus Monday morning.

Centered in Uzbek territory, 189 kilometers northwest of Dushanbe, the tremor could also be felt in Sughd and Khatlon provinces.

In the epicenter, the earthquake’s magnitude was 7.0 on the Richter scale.

No injured or damaged was reported, according to the Committee for Emergency Situations (CES) under the Government of Tajikistan.

It is already the second earthquake that could be felt in Tajikistan over the past two days.  A 2.0 magnitude tremor could be felt in Dushanbe on May 25.  Centered in Uzbekistan, 260 kilometers northeast of Dushanbe, the tremor could be felt in Khujand, the capital of the northern Sughd province as well.
