DUSHANBE, June 10, 2013, Asia-Plus  — Akmal Jumayev, representative of the Sozandagoni Vatan (Homeland Builders), which is the youth organization of the ruling People’s Democratic Party of Tajikistan (PDP), has participated in a web conference on religious extremism, Sozandagoni Vatan leader Adham Mirsaidov told Asia-Plus today.

According to him, organized by Siberian Federal University under support of the Krasnoyarsk regional government, the webinar brought together representatives from the Krasnoyarsk local authorities, experts from the Center for Strategic Studies of SCO and Asia-Pacific Area Studies, representatives of the organization of Kyrgyz students studying in Krasnoyarsk as well as Tajik and Uzbek Diasporas of Krasnoyarsk Krai to discuss issue of religious youth radicalization in the CIS area.

“Akmal Jumayev delivered a statement on religious extremism among youth in Tajikistan and a role of youth public and political associations in preventing religious extremism among youth,” Mirsaidov said.

The web conference participants reportedly came to a conclusion that it is necessary to improve methods of preventing religious extremism in the post-Soviet area and create mechanisms of interaction at the level of governments of the CIS nations.

The PDP created the Sozandagoni Vatan organization in 2011 and its founding conference took place on July 27, 2011.  The conference elected Adham Mirsaidov, formerly head of the PDP organizing department, chairman of the Sozandagoni Vatan organization.  The organization was registered with the Ministry of Justice in November 2011.

The main objective of the organization is in fostering a spirit of patriotism, devotion to ideas of national self-consciousness and independence of the country in the young generation.
