DUSHANBE, June 11, 2013, Asia-Plus /Zarina Ergasheva/ — Over the first three months of this year, the National Bank of Tajikistan (NBT) has put 264.7 million somoni into circulation, which is 128.4 million somoni more than in the same period last year.
Over the first quarter of this year, the country’s monetary aggregates have reportedly increased by 10 percent, reaching 4.606 billion. As of May 1, the monetary aggregates reached 4.8 billion somoni, the source said.
Over the same three-month period, cash out of banks has reportedly amounted to 3.116 billion somoni, 21.6 percent more than in the same period last year.
“A broad-based indicator of the monetary aggregates over the report period has amounted to 8.119 billion somoni, 14.1 percent more than in January-May last year,” the source noted.
The country’s currency reserves reportedly rose 10.3 percent in a year to April 1, 2013, reaching 928.6 million U.S. dollars.
