DUSHANBE, June 12, 2013, Asia-Plus – Over the first five months of this year, Tajikistan has produced a total of some 3.8 billion somoni worth of industrial goods, according to the Ministry of Energy and Industry (MoEI).

Compared to the same period of last year the index of the volume of production of industrial goods has amounted to 108.2 percent.

Processing industry has reportedly accounted for 64.4 percent of the overall volume of industrial goods produced over the report period, enterprises producing and distributing electric power, natural gas and water have accounted for 23.3 percent and mining industry has accounted for 12.3 percent.

Meanwhile, Tajikistan’s large industrial enterprises have reduced production over the same five-month period.  The Tajik Aluminum Company (TALCO), Tojikcement (Dushanbe cement plant) and a number of cotton ginneries have reportedly reduced production for both objective and subjective reasons.
