DUSHANBE, June 17, 2013, Asia-Plus  — President Emomali Rahmon has begun a working visit to the northern province of Sughd.

According to the president’s official website, Panjakent was the first leg of Rahmon’s visit to Sughd.

While in Panjakent, the president attended a ceremony of an official opening of a new gold refinery that was introduced into operation by Tajik-Chinese gold mining enterprise, Zeravshan Gold Company (ZGC).

The annual rated capacity of ZGC’s affinage workshop is up to 5,000 kilograms of gold in a form of standard 12.5-kilogram gold bullion bars with a fineness of 999.9.  The workshop has reportedly created 70 new jobs.  In the future, they plan to increase its annual capacity to 10,000 kilograms.

We will recall that ZGC plans to produce 1,650 kilograms of gold this year, which is more than 100 kilograms more than last year.

President is also scheduled to visit the Ghonchi and Asht districts as well as the Sughd Free Economic Zone (FEZ “Sughd”).

He is also expected to inaugurate the children’s health center at the “Bahoriston” sanatorium in the city of Qairoqqum.

A four-day working visit of Rahmon to northern Tajikistan will end with a meeting with regional administrators that will take place at the Arbob Palace in the Bobojonghafurov district, the source said.
