DUSHANBE, July 10, 2013, Asia-Plus – Tajik Foreign Minister Hamrokhon Zarifi started a working visit to Australia on July 9.

According to the Tajik MFA information department, Zarifi is scheduled to hold talks with Australian Acting Foreign Minister also Trade Minister as well as senior representatives from a number of Australian companies.

Zarifi is also expected to meet with representatives of Tajik Diaspora in Australia, the Tajik MFA information department said.

Diplomatic relations between Tajikistan and Australia were established in December 1991.  Ms. Margaret Aileen Twomey is Ambassador of Australia to Tajikistan with residence in Moscow.

In 2012, a two-way trade between Tajikistan and Australia amounted to 2.216 million U.S. dollars.
