KULOB, July 15, 2013, Asia-Plus — 29.23 million U.S. dollars, nearly 1.7942 billion Russian rubles (RR) and Euro 12,276 have been remitted to banks in the Kulob region of the Khatlon province over the first six month of this year, Safar Saidov, the head of the National Bank of Tajikistan (NBT)’s office in Kulob announced at a news conference in Kulob on July 13.

According to him, branches of 13 banks, 50 currency exchange offices and 67 money transfer offices now operate in the area.

Over the same six-month period, local banks have provided 135.4125 million somoni in loans, which was 36 million somoni more than in the same period last year, Saidov said.

He further added that 6.995 million somoni of dilapidated banknotes have been immobilized in the Kulob region over the first six months of this year.
