DUSHANBE, August 3, 2013, Asia-Plus – Tajik President Emomali Rahmon will depart for Iran tomorrow morning to attend the swearing-in ceremony of new Iranian President Hassan Rohani that will take place in Tehran on August 4.

Some Iranian media sources quoted Iranian Ambassador to Tajikistan Ali Asghar Sherdoust as saying that during his stay in Tehran Emomali Rahmon will hold talks with Hassan Rohani.

Meanwhile Tajik media source report that Tajik leader will just attend the swearing-in ceremony of Hassan Rohani and will return home on the same day.  

 Iranian Press TV reports that Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Abbas Araqchi said on July 23 that leaders and officials from across the world, except for the United States and Israel, have been invited to Rohani’s swearing-in ceremony scheduled for August 4, one day after his endorsement ceremony by Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei.

According to Press TV, Afghan President Hamid Karzai, Pakistani President Asif Ali Zardari, Lebanese President Michel Sleiman, Syrian Prime Minister Wael al-Halqi and Tajik President Emomali Rahmon will travel to Iran to participate in the ceremony.

Iraq will be represented by Vice President Khazir al-Khazai and Turkey by Minister of Development Cevdet Yilmaz.

Kuwait, Oman, the United Arab Emirates, Qatar, Azerbaijan and Latin American countries will also dispatch high-level delegations to the event.

This is the first time that heads of state and leaders from abroad have been invited to attend the swearing-in ceremony of Iran’s president.  Previous presidential inaugurations were attended by ambassadors.

Hassan Rohani won Iran”s June 14 presidential election with 50.7 percent of a total of 36, 704, 156 ballots.  Voter turnout in the election was 72.7 percent.
