DUSHANBE, September 30, Asia-Plus — On Sunday September 29, President Emomali Rahmon gave a kick-start to reconstruction of the Khovaling-Vose road, according to president’s official website.
We will recall that the Asian Development Bank (ADB) on September 26 approved a $70 million grant for a project to magnify regional economic cooperation and inclusive growth in Tajikistan by improving key roads, enhancing road safety and maintenance, and promoting local community development. The project provides for rehabilitating and improving road safety and maintenance on approximately 88 kilometers of the Sayron-Karamyk road section of CAREC Corridors 3 and 5, and 87 kilometers of the subnetwork Khovaling-Vose road. The project will also improve about 30 kilometers of village feeder roads in Vose and Khovaling districts, construct roadside rest areas for male and female vendors and travelers, and pilot solar energy installations for villages with winter electricity deficiencies. The Government of Tajikistan will provide counterpart funding of $19 million.
During his one-day visit to Khovaling, the president also inaugurated the support center for children with limited opportunities. The center, which is the home to 120 preschool age children, has been built under financial support of the Mission East international organization.
While in Khovaling, Emomali Rahmon also visited the Shugnov jamoat, where he attended official ceremonies of opening of a new boarding school, jewelry enterprise, bakery and enterprises for processing medicinal herbs, the president’s website said.
