DUSHANBE, October 11, 2013, Asia-Plus — Outgoing Iranian Ambassador to Tajikistan Ali-Asghar Sherdoust met here Friday (October 11) with Tajik President Emomali Rahmon at the end of his tenure to Tajikistan.

According to the Tajik president’s official website, Emomali Rahmon highly appraised the activity of the outgoing Iranian ambassador to promote further expansion of bilateral cooperation between the two nations.   

On the same day, Mr. Ali-Asghar Sherdoust also held talks with Shukurjon Zuhurov, Chairman of the Majlisi Namoyandagon (Tajikistan’s lower chamber of parliament) at the end of his tenure to Tajikistan.

According to Muhammadato Sultonov, a spokesman for the Majlisi Namoyandagon, Tajik parliamentary speaker appreciated Iran’s support for socioeconomic development of Tajikistan.

For his part, Iranian diplomat noted that when he headed Iranian diplomatic mission in Dushanbe six years ago, only seven Iranian students were studying at Tajik universities and today their number reached 2,200.
