DUSHANBE, October 14, 2013, Asia-Plus – Tajikistan and Kazakhstan have reportedly supported Kyrgyzstan’s initiative to create Tourist Union of Central Asia.

According to information posted on an official website of Kyrgyzstan’s Ministry of Culture, Information and Tourism, the Department of Tourism under the Ministry of Culture, Information and Tourism of Kyrgyzstan has initiated in Almaty, Kazakhstan to establish the tourist union of Central Asia as part of working out the sustainable tourism development strategy for the Silk Road heritage corridors.

The sides plan to hold a working meeting on this subject in Kyrgyzstan next year.

According to the Kyrgyz ministry, there are two key factors for establishment of the Tourist Union of Central Asia: 1) today’s tourist wants tours covering several countries and several cultures and historical-geographical features correspondingly; and 2) marketing of a single country is ineffective that is one country looks unattractive and with small number of tourist products and impressions as compared with a whole region with several countries.
