DUSHANBE, December 9, 2013, Asia-Plus – Six books on human rights and human rights tutorials, authored by professors from Tajik National University, are being presented in Dushanbe today.

These books that have been worked out within the framework of cooperation between Tajik National University and Eurasian Foundation of Central Asia (EFCA) will make contribution to improvement of quality of legal education and ensuring of rule of law in Tajikistan.

Cooperation Tajik National University and EFCA is carried out in the framework of a memorandum of cooperation that was signed in September 2011.  Under this document, EFCA finances and supports establishment and functioning of a law clinic at Tajik National University as well as supports projects for working out and replicating human rights textbooks.

This activity is carried out within the framework of the program, Equal before the Law: Access to Justice in Central Asia (EBL).

EBL is a multi-year, multi-country program to improve access to justice for vulnerable people in Central Asia.  EBL provides pro bono legal services, works to improve the curricula of Central Asia’s law schools, and has established networks of likeminded organizations to maximize the program’s impact.  The program is funded by the Finnish Ministry for Foreign Affairs and implemented by the Eurasia Foundation and the Eurasia Foundation in Central Asia.  Launched in July 2011, the program runs through December 2013.
