DUSHANBE, December 10, 2013, Asia-Plus – A group of women have broken the Social Democratic Party (SDP) leader’s briefing, accusing him of wakening a new civil war in Tajikistan.

SDP leader Rahmatillo Zoirov was going to give a press conference to journalists at SDP’s headquarters in Dushanbe Tuesday morning in order to share information about his recent trip to Ukraine and his impression of what is going on in Kyiv, but a group of 10 or 15 women burst into SDP’s office and broke the press conference.

They accused Rahmatillo Zoirov of an attempt to destabilize the situation in the country.  “We elected our president – Emomali Rahmon, but persons like you are carrying out anti-government propaganda,” the women said.

Moreover, one of the women accused Rahmatillo Zoirov of organizing last year’s events in Khorog, the capital of the Gorno Badakhshan Autonomous Region (GBAO) and in death of her husband, who probably participated in the government military operation in Khorog in July 20012.

SDP leader was forced to postpone the press conference to another time.

Meanwhile, SDP deputy chairman, Amniyat Abdulnazarov, says it cannot be ruled out that the breakdown of the press conference is a planned action.

“I believe that the breakdown of the press conference is a planned action aimed against our party leader,” Abdulnazarov said, noting that some journalists recognized among those “female activists” demonstrators, who rallied in front of the U.S. Embassy in Dushanbe last April, protesting release of former Prime Minister Abdumalik Abdullojonov from custody in Ukraine.

We will recall that some 100 young men and women rallied in front of the U.S. Embassy in Dushanbe on April 5, protesting the release of former Prime Minister Abdumalik Abdullojonov from custody in Ukraine.  A similar protest was held simultaneously by some 60 young demonstrators in front of the UN office in Dushanbe.
