DUSHANBE, December 18, 2013, Asia-Plus — The Islamic Revival Party (IRP) leader Muhiddin Kabiri is participating in a forum of Islamic and European parties and movements that opened in Geneva on December 17, according to IRP’s headquarters in Dushanbe.

“Muhiddin Kabiri is participating in the forum on invitation of the Center for Humanitarian Dialogue (HD Center),” IRP deputy head Mahmadali Hayit told Asia-Plus in an interview.

According to him, the forum has brought together known political figures from the Islamic world and Europe to discuss issues related to organization of peaceful dialogue between different cultures and religions.  

Founded in October 1990, the Islamic Revival Party of Tajikistan was registered on December 4, 1991.  It was banned by the Supreme Court in June 1993 and legalized in August 1999.  Its official newspaper is

Najot

(Salvation).  According to some sources, IRP now has more than 40,000 members.  It won two seats in the 2010 parliamentary elections.  The Islamic Revival Party of Tajikistan is the only Islamic party registered in CIS Central Asia.  Current chairman of the IRP is Muhiddin Kabiri.

Founded in 1999, the Center for Humanitarian Dialogue, otherwise known as the Henry Dunant Center for Humanitarian Dialogue, or the HD Center, is an independent non-governmental organization that assists in mediation between conflicting parties to prevent or end armed conflicts.  The aim of the organization is to promote and facilitate dialogue among the leadership of the main belligerents.

HD Center also conducts research and analysis on mediation and peacemaking in support of the operational projects to improve international efforts to secure and sustain peace.
