DUSHANBE, December 30, 2012, Asia-Plus – Security cameras have been installed at buildings of the Interior Ministry, State Committee for National Security (SCNS), Prosecutor-General’s  Office and Supreme Court in Dushanbe as part of the Safe City Project, according to the Interior Ministry press center.

Security cameras have also been installed at buildings of Circus and Shopping Center “Guliston.”

The Safe City Project reportedly consists of the following components: management center; video surveillance system; electronic police; and “interception” system.

The traffic surveillance system was launched in the Tajik capital on October 31 this year and Tajik officials praised the system for its potential to monitor traffic and resolve disputes arising from accidents.  Tajik law enforcement authorities, for their part, say the system also helps maintain law and order on the streets.

We will recall that some 850 closed-circuit television (CCTV) cameras have been installed around Dushanbe.

China”s Huawei Technologies Co. Ltd installed the $22 million system using a $20.9 million loan from China”s Export-Import Bank.
