The Interior Ministry reports that Mahmadullo Kholov was arrested in the northern city of Isfara (Sughd province) last week on suspicion of raping his two step-daughters.

The report about the arrest of Kholov that was aired by Shabakai Avall and Safina Friday evening notes that Kholov has been member of the IRP since 1991.

Meanwhile, a statement released by the IRP board on February 8 says that Mahmadullo Kholov has never been member of the Islamic Revival Party and party-membership card # 16473 that was shown during the TV report belongs to not to Mahmadullo Kholov but to Ms. Aziza Soliyeva from Isfara and it was issued in 2009.

The IRP board strongly condemns actions of the law enforcement agencies and local authorities and urges the government to stop such action and strictly implement norms of the Constitution and other laws of the country, the statement said.
