DUSHANBE, March 5, 2014, Asia-Plus — As of March 2, 2014, 1.032 million Tajik nationals, including 854,000 men and more than 180,000 women, stayed in the Russian Federation, according to Russia’s Federal Migration Service (FMS).

Compared to December 2013 the number of Tajik men staying in Russia has reportedly decreased by 72,000 and the number of Tajik women staying in Russia has decreased by 5,000.

Meanwhile, the Migration Service of the Ministry of Labor, Migration and Employment of Tajikistan informs that more than 964,500 people migrated out of Tajikistan last year.

Of them, some 800,000 people, including nearly 101,000 women, left the country seeking better employment opportunities.

The overwhelming majority of them traveled to Russia (more than 788,500) and Kazakhstan (some 8,600).

Meanwhile, 642,800 people returned back to Tajikistan over the report period, including some 552,900 men and some 90,000 women.
