DUSHANBE, March 18, 2014, Asia-Plus – On March 14, the Tajik American Cultural Association (TACA) held its official Grand Opening Ceremony at the United States Congress.

The event was attended by US Congressman Jim Moran of Virginia, Tajik Ambassador to the United States Nourddin Shamsov and representatives of the American public and Tajik Diaspora in the United States.

The ceremony started with the welcoming speeches of TACA President Vladimir Fedorenko, US Congressman Jim Moran, Ambassador Shamsov and Attorney Richard Bolger.

Speaking at the ceremony, Ambassador Shamsov expressed gratitude to TACA for organization of the event.

“Tajikistan attaches significance to cooperation and partnership with the United States.  We believe that adherence of both sides to productive and efficient cooperation will promote further strengthening of political, economic and cultural ties between our peoples,” Ambassador Shamsov said.

He expressed confidence that TACA will make significant contribution to expansion of bilateral cooperation between Tajikistan and the United States.

The welcoming speeches were followed by folk dances of Kulob, Gorno Badakhshan and Sughd, piano recitations of American children educated by Tajik pianist Lola Abdukholiq-zade, and rubob performance of Shashmaqom.

Established in May 2012, the Tajik American Cultural Association (TACA) is a non-profit, non-governmental, cultural and educational organization that promotes cooperation and integration within Tajik community and fosters intercultural interaction among other communities in the USA.  Its primary goal is to address needs and demands of the Tajik community, promote further integration, encourage cooperation and establish close relations with other communities living in the United States.

TACA aims to become an outlet that represents rich culture of Tajikistan and hospitality of the Tajik people.
