DUSHANBE, March 27, 2014, Asia-Plus — Industrialization of Afghanistan, which is proposed by Russian experts, is impossible without completion of construction of the Roghun hydroelectric power plant (HPP) in Tajikistan, the first deputy director of the Center for Strategic Studies under the President of Tajikistan, Sayfullo Safarov stated at the international conference “Problems of Security of Central Eurasia’s Nations under Conditions of Modern World Order: Trends and Approaches to Providing Stability” that was held in Dushanbe on March 27.
“Chairman of Russia’s Movement of Development, Yuri Krupnov, proposes Russia to support industrialization of Afghanistan but it is impossible without completion of the Roghun HPP and construction of Dashti Jum HPP in Tajikistan,” Sayfullo Safarov noted.
A senior expert from Tajik think tank says that reconstruction of Afghanistan’s economy depends to a large extent on development of Tajikistan’s energy sector.

Founders of the movement maintain that Russian diplomacy should propose establishment of a new region that will comprise Russia, China, Afghanistan, Mongolia, Azerbaijan, Turkey, Pakistan, and Central Asian countries. Industrialization of Afghanistan and Central Asian states will become Russia”s number one task within the framework of the project.
