DUSHANBE, April 1, 2014, Asia-Plus – On Sunday March 30, Tajik Foreign Minister Sorjiddin Aslov met in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia with Mr. Iyad bin Amin Madani, the Secretary-General of the Organization of Islamic Conference (OIC), according to the Tajik MFA information department.
The two reportedly exchanged views on cooperation between Tajikistan and the OIC and discussed a number of international and regional issues being of mutual interest.
Mr. Iyad bin Amin Madani highly appraised Tajikistan’s role in developing activities of the Organization and noted that the OIC intends to expand its cooperation with Central Asian nations, including Tajikistan, on the basis of its program of actions, the Tajik MFA information department said.
The Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) is an international organization consisting of 57 member states. The organization attempts to be the collective voice of the Muslim world (Ummah) and attempts to safeguard the interests and ensure the progress and well-being of Muslims.
The OIC has a permanent delegation to the United Nations, and is the largest international organization outside of the United Nations.
