DUSHANBE, April 15, 2014, Asia-Plus – In January-March 2014, Tajikistan has produced a total of more than 2 billion somoni (equivalent to some 420 million U.S. dollars) worth of industrial goods, according to the Agency for Statistics under the President of Tajikistan.

Compared to the same period of last year the index of the volume of production of industrial goods has amounted to 103.6 percent.

Processing industry has reportedly accounted for 60.7 percent of the overall volume of industrial goods produced over the first three months of this year, enterprises producing and distributing electrical power, natural gas and water have accounted for 28 percent and mining industry has accounted for 11.2 percent.

Of 1,093 industrial enterprises registered in the country 508 enterprises have exceeded the January-March 2013 production level and 380 industrial enterprises have not been in operation over the report period. 

Of the 90 basic types of industrial products the output of 42 has increased, and the output of 33 items has decreased over the same two-month period.  Fifteen basic types of industrial products have not been manufactured.
