DUSHANBE, May 26, 2014, Asia-Plus — On May 20, the Association for Aid and Relief, Japan (AAR JAPAN) distributed 13 mobility devices to students with physical disabilities.

According to AR JAPAN Resident Office in Tajikistan, this was part of the 8 month-grant project on inclusive education for children with disabilities in Dushanbe with the financial assistance from the Japanese government.

The distribution took place in the resource classroom at Secondary School 28, which provides rehabilitation, educational assistance, and prepares children with special needs for studying in regular classrooms.

The parents reportedly mentioned it was very difficult for their children to attend school without the mobility devices and they expressed their gratitude and the support for AAR JAPAN.  AAR JAPAN hopes to continue closely working with schools, students of special needs, and their parents.

Association for Aid and Relief, Japan (AAR JAPAN) is a non-governmental organization aiming to provide emergency assistance, assistance to people with disabilities, mine action and assistance to HIV/AIDS.  Established in 1979 as an organization with no political, ideological, or religious affiliation, it aims to extend emergency and long term support to the people in need of help.  AAR JAPAN is currently active in Japan and other thirteen countries around the world.

AAR JAPAN has been implementing projects in Tajikistan since 2001, targeting on emergency assistance, medical and agricultural sectors for persons with disabilities (PWDs).
