DUSHANBE, June 7, 2014, Asia-Plus — Tajik national air carrier, Tajik Air, plans to increase the number of flights from Dushanbe to Tehran beginning on June 25, according to the Tajik Air press center.

Currently, Tajik Air operates flights from Dushanbe to Tehran only once a week.  Starting from June 25, Tajik national carrier will operate flights to the Iranian capital twice a week: on Sundays and Wednesday.   

Besides, Iranian airline based in Tehran, Iran Aseman Airlines or Aseman, currently operates three flights to Dushanbe: two from Mashhad and one from Tehran.

The companies have reportedly come to an agreement that Tajik Air will operate twice-weekly service from Dushanbe to Tehran and Aseman will operate twice-weekly service from Mashhad to Dushanbe.     

Tajik Air (Tajikistan Airlines) is the national airline of Tajikistan.  The airline has its main hub at the Dushanbe airport, and it retains a secondary focus point at the Khujand airport.  The company started operations on September 3, 1924 as Tajik Aviation. Its first route was Bukhara to Dushanbe, served by Junkers F-13 aircraft.  It is the sixth oldest airline still in operation.

Tajik Air now serves the following destinations: China (Urumqi); Iran (Tehran, Mashhad); Kazakhstan (Almaty); Kyrgyzstan (Bishkek); Russia (Irkutsk, Moscow, Novosibirsk, St Petersburg, Samara, Sochi, Surgut, and Yekaterinburg); Tajikistan (Khorog and Khujand); and United Arab Emirates (Sharjah).
