Drug Control Agency operatives blocked the largest cannabis delivery channel into the Russian Federation.

According to the public relations department of the Drug Enforcement Agency, as a result of a complicated international operation, which lasted for a few months, Tajik Drug Enforcement Agency in collaboration with the Afghan Interior Ministry were able to suppress the activity of an organized criminal group, which had an international character. As a result, 100 kilograms of drugs were confiscated, and three persons, one of whom is an Afghan citizen, were arrested.

The operation consisted of two phases, which included the closing and overlapping of channels, as well as suppression of smuggling of Afghan drugs through the territory of Central Asian states into the Russian Federation.

As a result of the concentrated action by the Tajik and Afghan agencies the drugs were confiscated in Dushanbe along with the drug traffickers.

According to the Forensics Department of the Drug Enforcement Agency, the confiscated drugs are cannabis of 100 kilograms.

During the additional search operations, the head of the criminal group, 53-year old native of Takhar province of Afghanistan, was arrested.

A criminal case is opened, and the investigation is ongoing. The Drug Control Agency has arrested four persons in relation to the crime. The decision to create an international investigative and operative group with the aim of identifying and bringing to justice all the participants, has been taken. It is the second joint operation in the past month.
