DUSHANBE, September 15, 2014, Asia-Plus —

During Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) Summit, Chinese President Xi Jinping paid a state visit to Tajikistan. On September 12, Xi presented a national gift to us after meeting. Distinguishingly the electronic products on the list of national gifts for Xi”s visit to Tajikistan include China”s national handset brand “ZTE”.

Compared to China”s previous national gifts dominated by traditional artworks such as silk, porcelain and painting, Chinese handsets appear to have a stronger sense of the times and have opened a new window for knowing of China”s new strength. In recent years, China has made astounding progress in science and technology, thus gradually changing from a “world plant” into a “smart maker”.

Particularly, China”s smartphone industry has won the favor and drawn close attention from Chinese and foreign consumers by low prices and high quality, and increased its global market share from nearly zero in 2010 to 25 percent in the first quarter of 2014, thus becoming one of China”s fastest-growing industries. According to sources, any handset included as a “national gift” must have the highest security level and can represent the highest level of China”s handset industry. ZTE Grand SII presented as a “national gift” this time is a 4G handset released by ZTE this April. Reputed as one of the world”s securest handsets, it can build different security solutions based on demands of users at different levels such as government-level solutions and user-level solutions.

As one of the most competitive mainstream smartphone makers in the Chinese mainland, ZTE began to develop overseas markets such as Europe, North America and Japan early around 2005.

Some US media even analyzed, “Chinese state leaders” going out with Chinese handsets shows their active consciousness of bringing China”s handset industry to the international top stage, are Apple and Samsung supposed to stay alert?”
