KULOB, February 3, 2015, Asia-Plus — Five contenders will compete for a seat in the Majlisi Namoyandagon (Tajikistan’s lower house of parliament) in Kulob single-mandate constituency # 37.

“Mr. Abdughaffor Rahmonzoda, mayor of Kulob adviser Mr. Saidibrohim Nazar, adviser to the Islamic Revival Party (IRP) leader for political issues Mr. Ali Komilov, director of Kulob International Airport Ms. Kibriyo Gulmadova, principal of Kulob Secondary School # 3 and Mr. Zayniddin Davlatov, head of the Kulob department for youth sports and tourism affairs have been nominated to run for parliament in this single-mandate constituency,” Davlatsho Sharofuddinov, head of the Kulob district electoral commission told Asia-Plus in an interview Tuesday afternoon.

According to him, Kulob mayor Rahmonzoda and Kulob International Airport director Komilov were registered on February 2, and under the country’s election legislation, they were relieved of their posts.  The other candidates will be registered whit the district electoral commission within the next few days, Sharofuddinov added.
