DUSHANBE, February 26, 2015, Asia-Plus – The CISE Executive Committee head Sergey Lebedev, who is also head the CIS election monitoring mission, is expected to arrive in Dushanbe today afternoon.

Sergey Lebedev will hold talks with the head of the Central Commission for elections and Referenda (CCER) Shermuhammad Shohiyon and visit a number of constituencies in Dushanbe tomorrow.

While in Dushanbe, the CIS Executive Committee head is scheduled to hold talks with a number of high-ranking Tajik state officials.

Meanwhile, the CCER completed the process of registration of international election observers on February 24.

In all, 525 representatives of regional, international organizations and separate countries are expected to monitor the upcoming parliamentary elections in Tajikistan as international observers.

The CIS Election Monitoring Mission is an election monitoring body that was formed in October 2002, following a Commonwealth of Independent States heads of states meeting which adopted the Convention on the Standards of Democratic Elections, Electoral Rights, and Freedoms in the Member States of the Commonwealth of Independent States.  The CIS -EMO has been sending election observers to member countries of the CIS since this time; they approved many elections which have been heavily criticized by independent observers.
