DUSHANBE, April 24, 2015, Asia-Plus — OSCE Office in Dushanbe will host a round table, Development of Community Policing in Tajikistan: Interaction between Police, Civil Society and Media, on April 27 April, according to the OSCE Office in Tajikistan.

The event that will take place at the National Library in Dushanbe is part of the OSCE-supported project, a forum of dialogue between the law enforcement agencies and the Public Councils, and is organized by the OSCE Office in Tajikistan jointly with the Department of State’s Bureau for International Narcotics and Law Enforcement Affairs (INL).

Some 130 representatives of Public Councils on Police Reform from five regions and Dushanbe, police officers, mass media, OSCE, the Department of State’s Bureau for International Narcotics and Law Enforcement Affairs and United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime, as well as two experts from the OSCE Center in Bishkek “Community Security Initiative” project implemented in southern Kyrgyzstan and one expert from Northern Ireland will participate in the round table.

Speakers will include: Suzanne Elliot, Ambassador of the US Embassy in Dushanbe; Representatives from INL, US Embassy in Dushanbe; Trevor Service, expert from Northern Ireland; Haydar Mahmadyiev, National Liaison Officer at the OSCE Office in Dushanbe;  and two experts from the OSCE Centre in Bishkek project “Community Security Initiative” implemented in southern Kyrgyzstan.
