KHUJAND, June 15, 2015, Asia-Plus — On Friday June 12, a delegation of Iran’s Razavi Khorasan Province, headed by its governor, Ali Reza Rashidiyan, visited the Tajik northern province of Sughd.
On the same day, the Iranian delegation members met with Sughd governor Abdurahmon Qodiri to discuss cooperation issues.
Qodiri reportedly noted that a training and production center “Sheroz” was established in the Sughd capital, Khujand, with help of Iranian specialists. At this center, Iranian specialists are training local women in carpet weaving. 150 such training centers are expected to be established in other cities and districts of the province this year as well that will allow creating 9000 new jobs for local woman.
Ali Reza Rashidiyan, for his part, noted that Razavi Khorasan was interested in establishing mutually beneficial cooperation with Sughd in the fields of industry and agriculture.
Razavi Khorasan governor, reportedly outline sectors like municipal engineering, road building, energy, agriculture, industry and health, as areas of which could drive a two-way trade between the two provinces.
Razavi Khorasan Province could also provide assistance with training of personnel for Sughd’s economy, Ali Reza Rashidiyan noted.
The Iranian delegation reportedly proposed to set up a joint working group to study the opportunities of bilateral cooperation between Razavi Khorasan and Sughd in the fields of tourism and handicraft industry.
On the same day, the Iranian delegation visited the Sughd Free Economic Zone (FEZ Sughd).
On June 13, Ali Reza Rashidiyan attended a ceremony of an official opening of Iranian exhibition in Khujand.
Razavi Khorasan Province is a province located in northeastern Iran. Mashhad is the center and capital of the province. Other cities and townships are Quchan, Dargaz, Chenaran, Sarakhs, Fariman, Torbat-e Jam, Taybad, Khaf, Kashmar, Bardaskan, Nishapur, Sabzevar, Gonabad, Kalat, Khalilabad and Mahvealt. Razavi Khorasan is one of the three provinces that were created after the division of Khorasan Province in 2004.
