Dushanbe. 3 September. “Asia Plus” — A cotton harvesting campaign takes place in the southern districts of Khatlon region of Tajikistan.

As reported the management of crop production of Agricultural Ministry, cotton harvest is currently going on in Bohtar, Vakhsh, Kumsangir, Shahritus, Pand and Kubodiyon areas.

The farmers in these areas started to collect raw cotton this year, at the beginning of the last decade of August.

Farmers of central districts of Sugd region have not started the harvesting, because due to the climatic features cotton fully matures here a bit later.

According to the Ministry of Agriculture, about 180 thousand hectares of land were planted with cotton this year.

It was managed to sow 92.5% of the planned areas. At the end of the year Tajik farmers intend to harvest cotton in the amount of about 400 thousand tones.

Recall that in the last years were planted about 178 thousand Ha of cotton on an area, and the yield was approximately 390 thousand tones.
