DUSHANBE, December 17, 2015, Asia-Plus — Tajikistan’s liquefied gas imports are continuing to increase.

Over the first eleven months of this year, 314,000 tons of liquefied gas has been supplied to Tajikistan, which was 22.3 percent or 58,000 tons more than more than in the same period last year, according to the Ministry of Economic Development and Trade (MoEDT).

An official source at a MoEDT says the country’s liquefied gas imports have risen 2.6 times over the past three years — from 82,000 tons in 2012 to 295,000 tons in 2014.

Kazakhstan provides the bulk of Tajikistan’s liquefied gas imports.  In January-November this year, Kazakhstan has accounted for nearly 80 percent of Tajikistan’s liquefied gas imports.

Over the same eleven-month period, Tajikistan has also imported liquefied gas from Russia and Turkmenistan.

Tajikistan receives deliveries of liquefied gas by road and rail.

More than 60 percent of the country”s motor vehicles use liquefied gas as fuel.

Meanwhile, Tajikistan’s gasoline and diesel imports over the first eleven months of this year have fallen nearly 5.0 percent compared to the same period last year.

In January-November this year, Tajikistan has reportedly imported 200,000 tons of diesel fuel, 199,600 tons of gasoline, 53,100 tons of aviation fuel and 12,800 tons of engine lubricants.

Russia has reportedly accounted for 87.3 percent of oil products delivered to Tajikistan over the report period.

Under the indicative fuel balance endorsed for 2015, Russia was supposed to deliver one million tons of duty-free oil products to Tajikistan.  A totaled reportedly includes 600,000 tons of gasoline and diesel fuel.
