DUSHANBE, December 25, 2015, Asia-Plus – By Dushanbe Mayor Mahmadsaid Ubaidulloyev’s order New Year’s celebrations for excellent school students will be organized at the Dushanbe Circus from December 29-30.
More than 6,000 students from all 149 schools in Dushanbe have been invited to the celebrations, according to the mayor’s office press center.
All of them will be given New Year’ presents provided by sponsors, the source said, noting that sponsors will also organize the New Year’s celebrations in all boarding schools of the city.
Meanwhile, the Education Ministry of Tajikistan has banned New Years trees in schools. “Cutting down New Years trees, or putting them up and decorating them, the use of fireworks and pyrotechnics, and giving gifts and fundraising for New Year celebrations by students is strictly prohibited,” Tajik Education Minister Nouriddin Said was cited as saying by

. Instead of holding celebrations, schools are being encouraged to mount displays, as well literary and sporting events, to celebrate the festive end of year season.
