DUSHANBE, January 22, 2016, Asia-Plus – Tajikistan’s financial possibilities do not yet enable it to subsidize its agrarian sector, Jalil Pirzoda, the head of the Agriculture and Environmental Protection Department at President’s Office, told reporters in Dushanbe on January 22.

According to him, the government is taking measures to support the agrarian sector.

“For example, the government has lowered electricity rates for pumping stations being used in the agrarian sector,” said Pirzoda.  “Besides, the government every year develops the national agriculture development program and 200,000-300,000 U.S. dollars are provided every year for implementation of this program.”

The government also provides preferential loans to farming units through Amonatbonk (Tajikistan’s savings bank), Tajik official added.
