DUSHANBE, February 8, 2016, Asia-Plus — The second line of the Dsuahnbe-2 combined heat and power (CHP) plant is expected to be introduced into operation in the autumn this year, according to Barqi Tojik (national integrated power company).

The second line reportedly consists of two units with a total capacity of 300 MW and 270 gigacalories.

An official source at Barqi Tojik says specialists from China’s TBEA are installing equipment.  The first unit is expected to be introduced into operation in October 2016 and the second one will be introduced into operation in December 2016.

The plant’s second line is expected to increase the plant’s capacity to 400 megawatt.

We will recall that the first 50 MW unit of the first line of the Dusahnbe-2 CHP plant was introduced into operation in January 2014 and the second 50 MW unit of the first line was introduced into operation on September 13, 2014.

On September 13, 2104, Tajik President Emomali Rahmon and his Chinese counterpart Xi Jinping inserted the time capsule into the foundation stone for construction of the second line of the Dushanbe-2 CHP plant.

A total cost of the project is reportedly 30 million USD and it is being implemented due to a loan provided the Export-Import Bank of China.

This coal-powered plant is being built in the Luchob area of the Tajik capital.  Construction of the coal-powered plant is reportedly in compliance with Tajikistan’s environmental regulations.

TBEA is one of the largest electrical manufacturing groups in China and the first floated stock company in Chinese A Shore Market in transmission industry of China after merging the former Hengyang Transformer Works (a large-size stated company founded in 1958 and located in Hunan province, China), and well-known for manufacturing all kinds of high voltage power transmission, transformation and distribution equipments. Under the administration of TBEA, there are 10 large backbone factories, 5 research institutes, 6 business entities and 8 participated enterprises.  TBEA products are exported to over 70 countries, including the U.S., Canada and Japan. TBEA is one of the main suppliers of electrical equipment to the world”s largest hydroelectric power station, the Three Gorges. TBEA”s shares are listed on the Shanghai Stock Exchange.

In Tajikistan, the company has implemented a number of projects in the energy sector.
