Tajikistan-Belarus relations discussed in Minsk

DUSHANBE, February 12, 2016, Asia-Plus – Tajik Ambassador to Belarus Qozidavlat Qoimdodov has met in Minsk with Belarusian First Deputy Foreign Minister Alexander Mikhnevich to discuss bilateral cooperation between Tajikistan and Belarus.

According to the Tajik Embassy in Minsk, the two pointed to the necessity of improvement of legal foundation of bilateral cooperation between the two countries.

On the educational cooperation between the two countries, Tajik ambassador noted that 440 Tajik students were currently studying at higher educational institutions in Belarus.

Qoimdodov and Mikhnevich also noted that further expansion of trade and economic cooperation between Tajikistan and Belarus depend to a certain extent on activities of the Tajik-Belarusian intergovernmental commission for trade and economic cooperation.

The next meeting of the Tajik-Belarusian commission for trade and economic cooperation will take place in Dushanbe in early April this year.

They also pointed to the necessity of expanding direct cooperation between economic entities of the two countries and implementation of joint economic development projects.

Ambassador Qoimdodov expressed gratitude to the Belarusian Government for humanitarian assistance rendered to mitigate the effects of last year’s natural disasters in Tajikistan.
