DUSHANBE, February 17, 2016, Asia-Plus – Tajikistan’s population rose 2.3 percent in a year to December 31, 2015, reaching 8,547,400, according to the Agency for Statistics under the President of Tajikistan.

In other words, Tajikistan’s population increased by 192,800 people during the last year.

Last year, relatively high population growth rate was reported in Khatlon province and districts subordinate to the center – 2.6 percent.

During the last year, Khatlon’s population increased by 77,200 people, reaching 3,048 million.

The population of districts subordinate to the center increased by 49,900 people in a year to December 31, 2015, reaching 1.971 million.

The population of Sughd province reportedly rose 2.2 percent (54,000 people) in a year to December 31, 2015, reaching 2.508 million.

Dushanbe’s population rose 1.7 percent (13,400 people) during the last year, reaching 802,000.

The lowest population growth rate last year was reported in the Gorno Badakhshan Autonomous Region (GBAO) – 1.2 percent.  Gorno Badakhshan’s population reportedly increased by 2,600 people in a year to December 31, 2015, reaching 217,000.
