DUSHANBE, March 7, 2016, Asia-Plus – Tajik Foreign Minister Sirojiddin Aslov on March 6 attended a preparatory meeting of foreign ministers of member nations of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) in Jakarta , Indonesia that was followed by the OIC 5th Extraordinary Summit on Palestine and Al-Quds Al-Sharif that took place in the Indonesian capital on March 6-7.

According to the Tajik MFA information department, the OIC ministerial meeting adopted a draft resolution on Palestine and Al-Quds Al-Sharif that was considered by the OIC 5th Extraordinary Summit.

On the sidelines of the meeting, Aslov reportedly held meetings with his Indonesian, Afghan and Iranian counterparts to discuss cooperation.

(AP) reports officials from 57 countries participated in the OIC special summit in Jakarta.  The Middle East quartet — consisting of the U.N., Russia, U.S. and European Union — and permanent members of the U.N. Security Council were also represented at the summit.

The summit reportedly discussed a whole range of developments in the Palestinian territory, particularly settlement expansion, which shows that the number of settlers at the occupied Palestinian lands have exceeded 700,000 as of 2015.
