DUSHANBE, March 18, 2016, Asia-Plus – A two-day official visit of Tajik President Emomali Rahmon to the United Arab Emirates resulted in signing of a number of cooperation documents, according to the Tajik president’s official website.

The two sides, in particular, signed a joint statement.

The visit also saw the following agreements and MoUs singed in the presence of the two sides:

 

1)     A government-to-government agreement on security cooperation and combating terrorism;

2)     An agreement between the Ministry of Interior of United Arab Emirates and the Ministry of Justice of on the transfer of sentenced persons.

3)     A  Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on political consultations between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of the United Arab Emirates and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Tajikistan;

4)     A MoU between the Government of the United Arab Emirates and the Government of Tajikistan for cooperation in the fields of higher education and scientific researches;

5)     A MoU between the National Council of Tourism and Antiquities of the United Arab Emirates and the Committee for Youth , Sports and Tourism Affairs of Tajikistan for cooperation in the field of tourism;

6)     A MoU between the General Authority of Youth and Sports Welfare of the United Arab Emirates and the Committee for Youth, Sports and Tourism Affairs for cooperation in the field of sports;

7)     A MoU on cooperation between the Committee for Religious Affairs, Regulation of Traditions and National Ceremonials  of Tajikistan and the General Authority of Islamic Affairs and Endowments of the UAE.

 

Meanwhile UAE news agency WAM reports the United Arab Emirates and Tajikistan yesterday expressed their mutual interest in developing bilateral relations and their keenness to drive their cooperation towards further growth and development.

The two countries also expressed satisfaction over the level their diplomatic relations since inception where their bilateral and multilateral cooperation has witnessed an ongoing development under an atmosphere of mutual understanding and mutual benefit.

At the end of his visit, President Emomali Rahmon expressed his gratitude to the leadership of the United Arab Emirates for the warm hospitality accorded to him and his accompanying delegation. President Emomali Rahmon extended the invitation to His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, to pay an official visit to Tajikistan.  The invitation was accepted.  The date of the visit will be agreed through diplomatic channels.
